Tomorrow is the first Cook Center for Human Connection presentation! The first topic in our mental health series is "Helping Your Child Succeed - 3 Parenting Styles."
The presenter will be Dr. Kevin Skinner, LMFT, CSAT, and EMDR.
Learn practical ways you can improve parental warmth which is one of the key areas of principle-based parenting. Children who experience parental warmth are found to be more creative, experience less depression, and have healthier self-esteem.
Parents will learn:
- Parental Warmth
- Behavioral Control
- Monitoring Behaviors
- Psychological Control

We have recently changed the front face of our Website. With the changes, we have moved information around a bit. All important information previously on the site is still there including new additions and upgrades to some pages. Today there were a few instances of links not working. We notified our service team and the problems should be resolved.
For user simplicity, we have combined information and removed some tabs/buttons. Parents/Students/Staff buttons have upgraded pages with easily accessible links and information. All information that pertains to these groups will be on their respective page (examples: logins, forms, resources, training videos). While the bulk of the website is updated, there is still work to be done. We appreciate your patience while we complete the changes. All important information and links are currently accessible during this "construction". The Madison School District's Madison Cares department has partnered with the Cook Center for Human Connection to bring our District families a parent mental health series. There will be a total of 4 presentations during the series spread out over the remaining months of the school year. We are excited to bring this to you and our district!

The City of Rexburg has sent out their Holiday Activity Guide!
There are so many fun activities listed for families and friends! Check out the bucket list and coloring page contest for a chance to win a prize! Our MHS Choir will be performing at the Tabernacle on Monday the 27th (itermittently) from 6-8 pm, and we will also have two Christmas concerts in December! Want to get certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid? This FREE course teaches adults, who regularly interact with young people, how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use challenges. This training gives participants the skills needed to reach out and provide initial help and support to youth who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a mental health crisis (e.g. suicidal ideation). This course provides participants with a certificate upon completion and participants are certified as MHFA first responders for three years. The next course will be taught by Travis Schwab and Creshel Hill, and will be held Wednesday, November 15 and Thursday, November 16 from 4:30 pm until 8:30 pm both days. This is a two-day course, and attendance is required all 8 hours to receive certification. Registration is required. ATTENTION TEACHERS: Continuing Education Credit can be obtained through Idaho State University by taking BOTH the YOUTH and ADULT Mental Health First Aid Courses. Please see our website for credit information.

Does your child enjoy reading or listening to audiobooks?
Sora is a free app and resource for audiobooks, ebooks, and read-along books for all students and employees in the district. Sora is a digital library, so you "check out" books for two weeks at a time with an option to renew, or you can put a book on hold if it is "checked out" to someone else. A book with simultaneous checkouts means that an unlimited number of people can check it out at the same time. Artie and the Wolf Moon will be available on Sora for simultaneous use in ebook and audiobook formats between November 2-16th. Checkouts will be simultaneous, which means no holds!

The Bobcat Fieldhouse will be closed this Friday night (October 20) for the Rigby/Madison Varsity football game. We are expecting a full house with limited parking and a very busy campus. The fieldhouse will still be open as normal the morning of. Thanks!
Congratulations to our Seniors Haden Weekes (VB Team Manager) and Ashley Garner!! To top off a great night of celebration, all three Madison teams won 3-0 against Highland!! We have amazing talent within these teams. It's a great day to be a Bobcat! 🐾 #wearemadison

For the month of October, the Madison Cares Group Connection theme is: "Fall into Kindness." These fun, fall-themed activities focus on spreading kindness and positivity.
Activities will be assembled into a Grab n' Go bag that can be picked up on October 18th from 11 am until 6 pm at the Madison Education Center, 60 West Main Street, Rexburg. These bags are limited so REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
