Madison Cares Stay 2 Play will be held Thursday, April 27 from 10 am until 11 am in the Gym at Madison Education Center (60 W. Main St.) Stay 2 Play is an open play opportunity for families with children 6 months to 6 years which introduces a skill and teaches parents how to use this skill at home. We will provide open-ended activities with fun items to support large motor-free play. This is a great time for parents to network and socialize with other parents in the community. Our playgroups are facilitated by Home and Family interns from BYU-Idaho, and supervised by Early Childhood staff.

Last week Brianna Murray's class from Central High School went to Burton Elementary to drop off some adorable handmade stuffies! Our HS students received pictures from Mrs. Baird's class and brought them to life by creating stuffed replicas! The kids were so excited and LOVED them! This is one of the cutest projects ❤️😄 #wearemadison

Mrs. Grover’s all girls workout class (Body Sculpting at MHS) just completed their final day of R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense). R.A.D. is a defense system designed for women and girls. Beginning with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance, R.A.D. educates and trains woman how to defend themselves against sexual assault. The classes are taught by officers who are trained and certified to teach. Two years ago, Mrs. Grover and her 12 year old daughter took R.A.D., so she could experience it for herself. She quickly learned that these were important skills that she wanted her girls class to have. With the help of the High School resource officer and two other officers, this has become part of the Body Sculpting curriculum offered in the first and third trimesters.
(Officer Bovie has been involved with R.A.D. for 12 years, Officer Noel- 10 years, and Officer Frei- 3 years. Officer Boivie’s wife, Marnie, is also certified and helps with the class when she’s available. She has been involved with R.A.D. for 10 years.) Thank you for the time and commitment in teaching our students how to protect themselves. #wearemadison

Track meet scheduled for today in Pocatello has been cancelled due to weather.

Mrs. Dennis at South Fork Elementary had a Wax Museum day Friday! The kids did a fantastic job on their animal projects! All the students had fun little buttons by their projects so parents and students could come by and press the button to hear about that animal. Mrs. Dennis is amazing at inspiring these kids to learn and be creative. She has worked at South Fork for 16 years and is a wonderful asset to our District! #wearemadison #peopleofmadison

Two of Mr. Reeser's Government B students from last trimester were asked by Representative Jon Weber to go to Boise to present their Project Citizen presentation (Senior Project) to the Taxation Committee of the Idaho State Legislature's House of Representatives. They were debating what to do to discourage vaping and that was the topic of this group's presentation. Rep. Weber had attended their presentation here at MHS.
"We did our project citizen on how vaping is not a safer alternative to smoking. Jon Weber is on the taxation committee, and was trying to pass a bill to implement a tax on vapes. He asked us if we could testify for a few minutes on the dangers of vaping and its effects on high school students. We got to listen to committee and testify for about two minutes each and then they asked us questions after. The bill didn’t end up going to the floor and stayed in committee."
- Kacie Robinson "
We had such a great experience getting to really see congress in action. " -Peyton Burrell
You ladies are fantastic! It is so wonderful that our students get to have experiences like this! #wearemadison
