MSD COVID UPDATES

Last Updated: 9/23/2020 6:53 PM

As COVID numbers across the state and county occur,

we ask that you remain vigilant in your efforts in

helping us keep our schools open.

District Efforts:

We continue to clean and sanitize buildings on a daily basis, with emphasis on addressing high traffic areas.

We have just finished installing water bottle filling stations in each of our schools. We encourage you to send a water bottle with your child and ask them to use / refill their water bottle instead of using the drinking fountains.

Our school administrators continue to make adjustments to peak times (class changes, drop off and pick up, divide lunch times, etc.) to help spread out the flow of traffic.

We continue to strongly encourage staff, students and visitors in all MSD 321 buildings to wear masks /face shields.

We remain flexible in our transitions and options between online schooling and in-person schooling.

We have made adjustments to our attendance policy to ease concern for those needing to miss school.

We are frequently teaching hand washing techniques for those students in the younger grades and have provided copious amounts of hand sanitizer and cleaners that are readily available to all teachers and staff.

Community / Individual Efforts:

Avoiding close contact with those who are sick.
Practicing social distancing, leaving at least six feet between you and other people.

Wear a cloth mask when you are not able to social distance from others outside of family members. Wash your mask often.

Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.

Please stay home if you or your child has had symptoms of COVID.

EIPH ORDER OF RESTRICTIONS FOR MADISON COUNTY (SEPT 14)

Statement from Eastern Idaho Public Health concerning moving Madison from minimum to moderate risk level.

" As a result of the Active Case rates for COVID-19 increasing in Madison County over the past five days (12, 12.8, 14, 12.5, 13.3 respectively) and being above the metric of 10/10,000, at its meeting this morning, Eastern Idaho Public Health’s (EIPH) Board of Health passed an Order of Restriction for Madison County that requires the use of face covering by individuals when in public places when physical distancing cannot be maintained as well as limits the size of gatherings/events (both public and private) based on the available space at the venue to allow for physical distancing.

The Order will be in place for a minimum of 14 days. In order for the EIPH Board to consider rescinding the order after the 14-day period, the County’s active rate of cases must be below the threshold of 10/10,000 for the most recent consecutive 7-day period. It is our desire that everyone will do their part to practice the simple mitigation strategies to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This is important to keep our kids physically in school, keep our businesses/economy functioning, and to maintain our healthcare capacity for our region."

Madison Staff, Student and Parent Update - Order Restrictions from EIPH (September 14, 2020

Eastern Idaho Public Health voted to place Madison County under Moderate Risk Level (yellow). With this new action came an order of restrictions placed upon our community, including a face mask mandate.

In order to ensure our schools stay open, please comply with the Madison County/ EIPH face mask mandate.

As a district, our approach is to continue to encourage, inform and educate. We believe that our local health professionals are making hard decisions daily and are doing their best to pass along information that will help us keep our students physically in school.

At this time, when scrutiny can be easy, let us model kindness, unity and understanding to the younger generations.

To view the latest order as well as district updates and resources, visit our COVID AT A GLANCE PAGE. For all other questions concerning COVID, please direct them to EIPH.

Health Restrictions

All employees, students and school visitors are asked to wear a mask when social distancing is not possible. A list of exemptions due to activities and health related concerns can be found in section 2-C of the Order Restriction.

Gathering Restrictions

For now, the school day will proceed as normal with added precautions during peak gathering periods to provide distancing and number of students in a location. Extracurricular activities and events will continue as schedules. Staff will continue to provide space for social distancing to take place at all levels.

Enforcement/ Disciplinary Actions

All disciplinary actions will be addressed on a case by case basis.

Please direct follow up questions to your child's building principal or to Eastern Idaho Public Health.
