You can call me Mrs. M. if Mrs. McMurtrey is too long.  I have 4 children, they live in Colorado, Utah and Idaho.  As your teacher, I will do my best to help you feel welcome and comfortable in my classroom. I will make sure that you always feel respected by both me and your peers. I will help you understand the material and feel confident when it is time for an assessment. All I ask is that you come to school happy each day, ready to learn, and ready to be the best you that you can be.

I am an Idaho girl, born and raised.  I grew up as the daughter of school teachers and I am lucky enough to be carrying on that family tradition.  After graduating from Minico High School, (Go Spartans!), I attended college at BYU in Utah and then served 18 months as a missionary for my church.  I met my husband, Jason, when I returned back to BYU, and we were married in August of 1998 (21 years!).  My first daughter was born in Washington, my second in Idaho, my third in New Hamphsire, my fourth in Maine.  After that, I came to the conclusion that giving birth in each state wasn't the kind of record I was aiming for, so we finally decided to settle down.  My two youngest daughters were born here in Rexburg; less exciting but more stable.  And yes, that makes 6 daughters!  No, we do not wish any of them were boys and yes, my husband is doing just fine being the only male in a house full of females.  He goes off in a corner and plays his accordion when things get a little too dramatic and stressful.  I don't play the accordion, and so I spend much of my day mediating spats and consoling hurt feelings.  We are so happy to be here back home in Idaho and raising our kids in the wonderful Hibbard area.   Jason is an English professor at BYU-I and loves his job.  Our oldest daughter, Autumn, will be heading back to BYU to begin her 2nd year there.  Emma, our #2, will be starting her first year at BYU-I.  Eden will be a Freshman at Madison High School.  Lydia begins 7th grade at the Junior High and my two youngest, Ivy and Eliza, will be here at Hibbard Elementary, with me.  We recently became cat owners and have a cute kitten named Waterloo.  He and I have a strained relationship but I'm trying to love him.  I consider myself very blessed to have the opportunity to teach at Hibbard Elementary.  I adore these wonderful Hibbard kids. I am inspired by them and so impressed with their curiosity, energy, enthusiasm and kindness.  They come from wonderful and supportive families and I love rubbing shoulders with them in the community.  I am excited for another school year to begin and the opportunity to get to know a new batch of amazing students!
